Along every axis, you'll want a minimum of 1in of foam, and 1.5in-2in is better. The lid for most Pelicans is ~2in deep. That depth is included in the interior depth of the case. Your "choke point" for your application isn't the drone, but the truck seat. Thank for including that part.

The fit and finish is really well done. I have the DJI hard case for my Mavic Air2. It has a ton of storage and room for 5 batteries. The latches don't lock like the Nanuk. It was also a bit pricey at $170.
