If the front 2 electric fans start spinning when you switch on the A/C but the compressor doesn't work (look at the electromagnetic clutch in front of the compressor, where the pulley is, if it engages and turns) then there is a loss of refrigerant (when refrigerant pressure goes down there's a pressure switch that interrupts the A/C compressor electrical circuit to protect it from self damaging).

hi buddy if you do a search on the subject you will find it is a commen problem it usually shows as a missfire or rough running,it tracks down the ecu loom from where it lives in the engine i dont think your ecu will be full of oil or you would have no end of problems it can be cleaned out with electrical contact spray cleaner i think and most sufferes change the ecu loom for an updated
For a Discovery LS swap to go well, it is a good idea to have most of the vehicle in good running order before starting the swap (minus the engine, of course).
