CloseAcrobat and open a powershell window (Windows only) as an administrator and type: restart-service spooler. Or you can do it through the services management console. Go to the control panel and search for Services. Look for the service named Print Spooler, right-click it, and restart it.
AcrobatPro 8.0 was on the Win 7 Pro machine and carried over working. Prior to a recent update of Windows 10, everything seemed ok with running Acrobat Pro 8.0. Windows 10 recognized it and it had the proper file associations. Windows 10 replaced my default PDF program with Adobe Reader DC.
Forapproximately the past two months, Acrobat DC reports "not responding" for about 20 to 30 seconds when I open it. This happens again when I open any PDF document (even one with just a single page). It happens again when I select any of the tools (Edit, Combine, Organize, etc). AcrobatDC freezes (not responding) every couple seconds. Our Users have Issues with the Acrobat Reader DC after updating it to Version 22.001.20169. (Latest Update) When they Open a PDF File with Acrobat DC it works fine for a couple seconds and afterwards it continuesly starts to freeze and the Window is in a "not responding"
Clickthe Custom level button. Scroll down to the Scripting section. Make sure Active Scripting is set to Enable, and click OK. Enable scripting for the Internet zone as well: Select the Internet zone, click the Custom level button, and then set Active Scripting to Enable. Try to download Acrobat Reader again.
Hello-I also tried various steps posted with no success. Then, I realized my default viewer was Acrobat and not the Acrobat Reader DC application. Once I switched defaults to open in the Reader application, I was able to preview the files within mail and file-explorer as normal. I hope this helps.

Asdescribed the Acrobat Reader DC version 21.07.20091 is not opening after the you have updated the Windows OS. Also, repairing the installation fixes the issue until the next reboot is done. Please try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows with full admin rights and try using the application there.
